User Policies & Terms of Service: What You Should Know

Hoot Reading’s policies are designed to keep your child’s learning experience safe, consistent, and effective. By following our guidelines for respectful behaviour, secure account use, and timely scheduling, you help us deliver high-quality tutoring in a trusted and supportive environment.

A Safe, Respectful Learning Environment

At Hoot Reading, we expect everyone—students, families, teachers, and staff—to act with respect, fairness, and trust. Caregivers can be present during lessons as observers, but teachers lead the lesson. We also ask students to dress appropriately and use the app with good behaviour.

Subscriptions, Attendance, & Scheduling

You can review our User Policies on our website for complete subscription, attendance, and scheduling policies.

  • Lessons are scheduled and confirmed in the app. Please join on time with your device ready and Internet connected.

  • To change your regular lesson schedule, notice must be given at least 7 days in advance, and most monthly or annual subscriptions include up to three changes per year.

  • To cancel a membership, provide at least 7 days notice before your next renewal date. Annual subscriptions may be subject to early-cancellation fees.

Your Account & Usage

When you set up your Hoot Reading account, you agree to Hoot Reading's Terms of Service. Key points include:

  • Only you may use your account; you must keep your password secure and immediately notify Hoot if unauthorized use occurs.

  • You agree to use the service responsibly and for its intended educational purpose. Any misuse (such as sharing your account with others, copying materials, or posting inappropriate content) may lead to suspension or termination of your account.

  • Parent or guardian consent is required for students using the service.

  • Hoot reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate any policies or terms. Upon termination, access to lessons and stored content may be revoked.
