Is Hoot Reading right for my child?

Hoot Reading supports children ages Pre-K (4+) through Grade 8. Our program uses structured, evidence-based reading instruction, which benefits all children learning to read, whether they are just starting, keeping up, or need extra support.

Who Hoot Is For

Hoot supports a wide range of readers, including:

  • Children learning foundational reading skills

  • Children who need extra practice to build confidence and fluency

  • Children who are behind in reading or need targeted support

  • Children with dyslexia or other language-based learning differences

Hoot is used both by families looking for extra reading support for their children, and it is trusted by schools and districts across North America for broader literacy interventions.

How Hoot Teaches

Hoot lessons are always:

  • 1:1 with a trained reading teacher: Every lesson is live and personalized to your child.

  • Personalized and data-guided: Instruction is based on assessment results and updated as your child grows.

  • Explicit and step-by-step: Skills are taught clearly and systematically, building from simple to more complex.

  • Supportive and confidence-building: Lessons are designed to feel calm, encouraging, and achievable for students.

How Instruction Is Tailored to Your Child

Every child begins with a reading assessment that identifies strengths and areas for growth. Teachers use this to build a personalized Instructional Plan and adjust lessons over time using progress monitoring.

Instruction is based on your child’s skills, not just their grade level, so they get exactly the support they need.
