A Message From Our Founders

Welcome to Hoot Reading! We founded this business on the dream of making 1:1, evidence-based literacy instruction available to all kids when they are learning to read. The truth is that learning to read is hard, and each child learns at their own pace. We know you’ve experienced this first-hand in your classrooms or with other students you’ve worked with, and it’s likely part of what brought you to Hoot.

One-to-one attention and individualized instruction are precious and powerful, but it is rare that kids actually get this kind of support, whether in or out of classroom time. When kids don’t get the help they need early on, they fall behind, and when learning gaps are left unaddressed, it can have a lifelong impact. We fail our kids when we don’t provide them with the skills they need to succeed, and with all of the research supporting tutoring and early intervention, we knew we needed to be part of the solution.

We started Hoot Reading in 2018 to reimagine the way kids learn to read and to be a force of positive change in solving the literacy crisis. And that’s where you come in: our teachers. Caring, thoughtful, and skilled individuals like yourselves support us in our vision to successfully unlock the potential of each student we meet over our app. We’re so happy you are joining us on this mission, and we want to welcome you personally to the Hoot community!
