Hoot Reading is an online tutoring service that connects emerging readers with experienced teachers to practice guided reading aloud over our award-winning App, which is like Skype with books.

Our teachers will read online with children across North America from K to Gr.4 at a range of reading levels. Their job is to listen and provide constructive feedback in real-time as the child reads out loud. Our summer program will offer both flexible and structured part-time work that can be done from anywhere with Wi-Fi and an Apple iPad!

FLEX

 

$  20  –  28 / hr

Best for teachers who…

 

..want flexibility, some weeks off and have the freedom of summer while making extra money.

 

This is an “on-demand” model where you are offered a session 24 hours in advance and you can opt in. You are paid for each completed session.

HOOT
FIXED

 

$  18  –  20 / hr

Best for teachers who…

…can offer 4-10 hours a week during the 9 week term and prefer the stability and security of a weekly schedule.

 

This is a “fixed shift” model where we will guarantee a minimum of 2 hours of paid time/week. You are paid for all of the hours you are scheduled.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:

 

 

  • ​Bachelor’s degree in Education, or currently completing the last year of a Bachelor’s in Education program
  • Classroom experience
  • Criminal records/child abuse registry check upon request
  • Must have your own Apple iPad 2 or higher
  • Must have a quiet place to work with reliable Wi-Fi
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Punctuality and commitment to hours scheduled
